What pulls you is meant for you...
follow your curiosities, trust your instincts, and buy the Moroccan leather belt.
There’s something magical about a flea market. The lack of curation requires you to slow down. Be present. Let your eyes wander, not for something specific, but for something that pulls you in. Guided only by curiosity and intuition. It could be a pair of beaten up cowboy boots that stop you in your tracks or a fringe jacket in a cut you’ve never seen before. The more you explore the more you begin to recognize yourself in the pieces that attract you.
No two people see the same flea market, because no two people are drawn to the same things. What catches your eye might be overlooked by someone else- and that’s what makes it yours. It’s intuitive shopping. It’s trying on ten different jackets just to find the one that feels like you - something you didn’t even know you were looking for. You’re not stepping into someone else’s curated vision of style. You’re building your own, guided by gut and instinct.
A flea market is a playground for building personal style. Personal style is timeless style because it’s rooted in intuition, not trends. A trip to a flea market is a chance to to play, edit, and uncover more things that feel like “me.” This week I’m sharing the my finds from my trip to the long beach flea with links to make them your own because what’s mine is yours.
I’ve been feeling the need for a big belt that can make my big on big proportions feel more styled for summer. I fell in love with this 70s Moroccan leather woven belt with a big etched brass buckle. This is a style I’d never intentionally look for but when I saw it on the table I knew it was for me.
Brass and silver buckle with black woven leather, third one in is perfection, $45
Silver and brass buckle with bone inlay and wide belt, this one’s funky, $48
Brass and silver etched flower buckle, fun option, $50
Silver and brass studded buckle with bone inlay and wide belt, not from 70s but pretty made in morrocco, $60
Beautiful braiding and bone inlay belt, narrower option $24

I loved the braiding on this belt, the rich couio leather, the simple etching on the buckle, and the gorgeous bone inlay. I will wear this belt with billowy white cotton dresses all summer and feel more like myself with the touch of cowboy energy this belt gives me.
Saddle Leather and Antler bone, closest match to mine, $44
Saddle Leather Hand Tooled Flower and Bone Buckle, my pick, $19
Saddle Leather and Hammered Hamsa Medalion, love this one, $22
I love the personal style of Pablo Picasso especially for summer. I’ve never seen the photos in this book online so I snagged it. Along with great style inspo there’s some great pics of his pup, Lump, a shorthaired dachshund, that really charmed me as a momma of a long haired lump named Marley.

I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of khaki dad shorts. I went to the flea with the intention to find them but really came with an open mind and no expectation. That’s when I stumbled across these gorgeous pleated, 1952 military shorts. I think they might be french after doing some research. The details on this short are gorgeous.

I love a straw bag in the summer. It adds rich texture to any look. This one felt special because of the fine crochet, braided shoulder strap, and slouchy sling shape. I only paid $25 so it was an immediate yes.
Slouchy Straw Sling Bag, this one is amazing, $25
Slouchy Straw Sling Bag, this is the closest to mine and the color on this is incredible, $36
Slouchy Straw Sling Bag, the shape of this one, $88
Slounchy Straw Sling Bag, love the tonal stripe, $15

I’ve been looking for the perfectly slouchy pair of authentic 1950s US Army Chinos. I tried these on and immediately knew this was the attitude I was looking for. I love that they have great structure and lots of volume. I’m picturing styling this with a white tank for summer.
1940’s Chinos , sz 32, $129
1940’s Chinos, sz 30, $85
1950s’ Chinos, sz 30, this is a steal, $29
Fit tip- bigger is better. If these were more tailored they would feel dorky. I love the big slouchy attitude of these.
If I had to narrow down to one item to buy out of all of this it would be a 70’s Moroccan leather belt. I’ll be styling them over my billowy dresses and cotton army pants all summer long- breathing new life into the summer clothes I already own.
Hope this inspires a trip to the flea this weekend wherever you may be. Go with an open mind, wander, see what pulls you. What pulls you is meant for you.
You inspire me to dress with panache! Ahhh for a flea market.
