Object of Obsession: The Big Khaki Skirt
Mexico City, panic packing, and the skirt I can't stop thinking about.
I booked a last minute trip to Mexico City for my birthday. I’d never been before and since it’s only a three hour flight from Los Angeles it felt easy enough to just wing it. As I was panic packing just hours before the flight I went hunting for my gigantic boyfriend chinos—the flea market find I’ve been living in (and wrote about).
I pulled them from the closet to chuck in my bag and quickly realized what I pulled wasn’t my chinos at all, but a big khaki skirt I bought on eBay last year and never wore. With the vision of Frida Kahlo floating in the back of my mind, and my low key muse for packing, I decided to give it a try.
I paired it with my favorite vintage Yves Saint Laurent vest I’ve had for at least ten years and my strappy sandals I bought from Puglia last year with my favorite vintage straw bag I found on ebay and was instantly obsessed.
It was cooler than expected in Mexico City so made some adjustments to the fit that still felt very Frida. The volume of the skirt made every step feel dramatic and fabulous-exactly the energy I wanted for the trip.
I can’t stop thinking about how good this piece will be going into fall with cropped jackets, sweaters, and tall riding boots. This big khaki skirt has officially become my newest object of obsession and because what’s mine is yours, I scoured eBay to find you some great options in a range of sizes and prices from $26-including the exact one I’m wearing.
Let’s get into it!
Object of Obsession No. 01- First on the list because the trench details are heaven here. I’m leaning more and more into heritage textures and details these days and this Junya Watanabe take on a classic is absolute perfection. $318
